Connecting Fashion Around The World
When seeking trends, we not only look to the runway to draw inspiration, but more so toward how the trends will translate to street wear. Each season, key pieces emerge as viral go-getters and in a flurry, they become season staples – the Gucci bum bag, the Chanel double pearl earrings to name a few. But it’s the influential bloggers roaming the streets, styling the new pieces in the most fashion forward ways that dictate which pieces are the season must-haves.

"It would appear as though some of our favourite designers this season were taken up by the cool kids of the '80s. References to bright voluminous taffeta pieces reflective of debutant dresses were interwoven through some of our favourite shows such as Stella McCartney, Miu Miu and Saint Laurent, who chose a darker more Parisian version. Also casting '80s vibes were exaggerated sleeves of the one shoulder variety, cinched waists and a hit of bubble gum pinks.
Not to become a fashion victim of the '80s, we find in this situation less is more. Each of these elements is a statement so it can be best to keep to one flashback moment per outfit. If you’re feeling like rolling out an '80s style blazer with a cinched waist, pair it down with jeans and a flat shoe. If an exaggerated one shouldered dress is your vibe, layer with a crisp white shirt underneath for a casual effect. When it comes to bubble gum pink it’s all about having fun, embrace the hue and do what’s right for you."
